Abstract

ABSTRACT

This paper briefly reviews the historical evolution of guidance in Spain, focusing in the Professor Elvira Repetto Talavera from the perspective of her academic and scientific contribution, and in her role promoting guidance, particularly from the community of practice perspective. We analyse the current state of the institutionalisation of guidance in Spain since the nineties, describing three subsystems that are evolving in parallel but with almost no mutual interconnection: primary and secondary education, university and vocational training, and transition to work. We conclude that, among the challenges that remain, there is the need for a greater professionalisation of the guidance role and for working towards an integrated guidance system that ensures coherence and quality.
