After the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been understood that digital education needs the development of more active methodologies, supported by sometimes classic and sometimes emerging technologies, managing time and spaces in a more creative and efficient way. Through a diverse range of methodological approaches, this RIED special issue provides empirical evidence that contributes to the discussion on the necessary competencies and methodologies so that they can be put into practice in higher education.
