Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research, studies the current situation of Information and comunication technologies (TIC) among all guidance departmentsat highschools in the province of Huelva. Through the research, we also obtain information about the quality of professional's formation. This research involves 89 guidance counselors belonging to the 83 highschools at the province of Huelva and its capital city.Taking in mind our aim, we used some qualitative and quantitative methods. To collect the information we have used two instruments: the questionnaire and semistructured interview.In this study we discovered which are the main uses of ICT by guidance counselors, what resources or tools are the most used and which domain have on them. The results indicate that guidance professionals mainly use ICT to find information and materials on the Internet, or vocational guidance to students and address their specific needs, among others. In addition, a significant portion of participants think that knows all ICT tools that can help you in performing the work of guidance and thinks so there ICT training courses but are not related to their professional profile.
