Abstract

ABSTRACT

The United Nations and the European Union are urging universities to include specific actions for disabled students in their tutorial action plans. In this sense, the aim of this paper is to present the services offered to disabled students at Spanish universities. For the study 40 universities were selected taking into account the importance of their work in the field of disability and that all regions in the country were represented. The methodology used was a qualitative approach, especially descriptive. The instruments used for data collection were a questionaire and an interview. The analysis focused on the four key moments of a tutorial plan: promotion, orientation, retention and graduation. The results show that universities devote greater effort to find mechanisms of inclusion for disabled students during their studies, they especially offer guidance on studies and curriculum adaptation, either material resources to access information or system evaluation. However, actions at graduation should improve and include specific orientation programs for job placement.
