Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are an essential element in the lives of all people. Literature shows that young people are the ones who are most exposed to the risks of their misuse. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of a preventive intervention program for ICT addictions in Secondary Education (SE) students with the participation of families. A sample of 258 students (SE) and 170 of their families were selected. The implementation of the program lasted 10 weeks and was carried out during tutoring hours. As a complement, families were involved by collecting their initial perceptions, necessary to detect needs, as well as to carry out joint tasks and follow-up at home. A mixed approach was used, by which the data was analysed through a quantitative instrument (a questionnaire) and a qualitative technique (the interview). The results showed how young people, after the intervention, reduced the abusive use of ICT, online gaming, and the actions that could cause cyberbullying. In conclusion, we can contend that this type of program aimed at the adolescent population has great benefits in terms of promoting proper use of ICTs. Secondary Education centers should guarantee the implementation of this type of programs.
