Keywords:

The present work intends to offer a complete critical synthesis and updated compilation, from a historiographical point of view of the Spanish contribution to egyptomania. Starting from an overview of the evolution of Western interest in Ancient Egypt, it will delve into the political, philological, collecting and artistic approaches of Spain to the legacy of that culture. Thus, this work seeks to highlight the early contribution that Spain had in the Western rediscovery of Egyptian civilization previous to the Napoleonic Campaign. Finally, attention will be focused on the artistic repercussions that these currents had in Spain through an approach to the milestones of its neo-Egyptian heritage.
