In this article we are proposing a hypothesis of perpetuating personality disorders. In order to understand how these pathologies remain stable over time they are broken down in constitutive mental dimensions: dominant mental states; dysfunctional metacognitive profile; typical interpersonal cycles; modality of the regulation of choices; modality of the regulation of self-esteem. We then describe how these variables interact between themselves creating circuits of perpetuation regarding the syndromes. We are proposing models of the dependent, narcissistic, avoidant and paranoid personality disorder.
