Abstract

Femininity has always had a prominent role not only in the life of - but also in the work of Edgar Allan Poe. This paper examines the transformative-character of the Great Feminine archetype by means of the masculine protagonists in the two short stories we will focus on. The goal is to uncover how female phenomenology occurs in the masculine psyche.

Marta Gómez Moreno, Investigadora Posgraduada en Literatura y Lingüística Inglesas

Marta Gómez Moreno es investigadora y profesora autónoma. Obtuvo el Máster en Literatura y Lingüística Inglesas en 2009, por su trabajo de investigación The Gothic Novel. Fue becaria e investigadora contratada en la Universidad de Granada por diversos proyectos de investigación otorgados por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación entre otros, como el proyecto “BILINGUNI”: “Total Bilingualism: Follow-through in the university area of pupils originating from the secondary bilingual system”. FFI2008-03919/FILO.

Elaine Caroline Hewitt Hughes, Departamento de Filología Inglesa. Universidad de Granada

Profesora Titular del Departamento de Filología Inglesa de la Universidad de Granada, España. Tiene 32 años de experiencia en la enseñanza e investigación de lengua, literatura y lingüística aplicada inglesas. Su tesis ganó el premio extraordinario de doctorado departamental para el año 1997. Ha dirigido varias tesis ya leídas y defendidas y trabajos de investigación de Máster. Fue Coordinadora del Programa de Master con Doctorado del Departamento de Filología Inglesa durante 4 años, y consiguió para ello una mención o Certificado de calidad.
