Translation competence within the curricula of philological and literary degrees

Although translation has traditionally been used as a didactic resource in language learning, this practice has been abandoned for years. However, nowadays, it has regained importance, particularly in philological and literary university degrees. For this reason, in this paper we present a descriptive, census-type research, aimed at describing and analysing how translation-related subjects are implemented in the curricula of different philological degrees. In this way, we will be able to provide a comprehensive overview from which it will be possible to position pedagogical translation as a vehicle for transmitting linguistic and cultural knowledge within these degrees. Among the results obtained, it is noteworthy that translation-related subjects are particularly prominent in English language degrees, even though, in most cases they are offered as optional subjects.
