Abstract

ABSTRACT

The History of Spanish Educational and Vocational Guidance, from their origins until 1970, has been written and published by J. A. Benavent in two volumes (1996 and 2000). The author, in collaboration with Renzina Fossati, presents in this paper the establishment and evolution of the Instituto Municipal de Orientación del Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Valencia, from its creation back in 1970 to the present. The role played by its founder, José Zaragozá, and the changes occurred in this institution that lead to its transformation into the current Gabinete Psicopedagógico Municipal of Valencia (Spain) are closely described.
