La modernidad sin centro Pintores griegos de la primera mitad del siglo XX

En el campo de la pintura, desde principios del siglo XX hasta la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en un contexto de crisis social, económica y política, se llevó a cabo una intensa experimentación y se conformaron diversas corrientes artísticas que crearon nuevos lenguajes expresivos. En Grecia, país alejado de los grandes centros culturales y los grandes nombres, hubo pintores que tuvieron entonces un papel de suma importancia en la asimilación de las novedades artísticas y en su reinterpretación a través de las propias experiencias y características culturales. Estos pintores secundarios, como Parthenis, Maleas, Theofilos, Kontoglou y Tsarouchis, crearon una obra de gran calidad y tuvieron un papel fundamental en la creación de una identidad griega moderna en el campo artístico.
In the field of Painting, from the beggining of the XXth Century to the Second World War, in a context of social, economic and political crisis, there was an intense experimentation and different artistic trends were formed. In Greece, a country that was far away from the big cultural centers and the reknowed names, there were painters who played a very important role regarding the assimilation of the artistic novelties and their reinterpretation through the own experiences and cultural characteristics. These secondary painters, like Parthenis, Maleas, Theofilos, Kontoglou and Tsarouchis, had a work of great quality and had a decisive role in the creation of a modern Greek identity in the artistic field.
