INNOVACIÓN Y BOLONIA: LA ENSEÑANZA/APRENDIZAJE DE INGLÉS L3 EN LA UNIVERSIDAD PABLO DE OLAVIDE

Abstract

This article provides an insight into the teaching/learning process of English
as a second foreign language in the context of the degree on Translation and
Interpreting taught at Universidad Pablo de Olavide. It begins by examining
the didactic recommendations presented by the European Space for Higher
Education and their impact on the new degrees in Spain (i.e., grado as against licenciatura). It then describes the important curricular innovations introduced in the subject “English as a C Language” last academic year, which focused on the development of the students’ competences through a task-based communicative approach and continuous assessment. The results achieved in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 are then analysed and discussed, and from the evidence obtained it is argued that such methodology is extremely effective in helping learners to achieve their goals.

Resumen

En el presente artículo se analiza el proceso de enseñanza/aprendizaje del inglés como segunda lengua extranjera en el contexto del grado en Traducción e Interpretación que se imparte en la Universidad Pablo de Olavide. Tras examinar, en primera instancia, las recomendaciones didácticas del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior y su impacto en las nuevas titulaciones de grado en España, se pasa a describir las importantes innovaciones curriculares introducidas el curso pasado en la asignatura Lengua C I Inglés, innovaciones que se centraron en el desarrollo de competencias mediante un enfoque comunicativo basado en las tareas y la evaluación continua. Seguidamente se analizan los resultados alcanzados en 2008-2009 y en 2009-2010, y, partiendo de tal evidencia, se llega a la conclusión de la incuestionable eficacia de la metodología empleada al ayudar al estudiante a alcanzar sus metas.
