Abstract

Abstract:
The adoption of Directive 2011/24 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 on the application of patients’rights in cross-border healthcare represents a major step forward in the development of a genuine Common European space in the area of health protection and health care for Community citizens, thus covering one of the main deficits presented by the Union in the field of social rights. However, such a path that starts with the Directive is difficult to develop with full legal guarantees if it is not accompanied
by a catalog of rights and duties of community citizens as patients and users of the new common space.
