This issue of Revista de Psicoterapia commemorates its 40th anniversary. The Journal of Psychiatry and Humanist Psychology first appeared in 1981, and became the current Journal of Psychotherapy in 1990. This article recalls the beginnings of the magazine framing them in its historical moment and professional and academic context. The appearance of the magazine, its development during the eighties and its transformation into the Revista de Psicoterapia are considered a reliable representation of the evolution of psychology and psychotherapy in our country.
