Abstract

This article aims to deal with the figure of Natália Correia through the portraits and poetic self-portraits published between 1941 and 1955. The hermeneutics of the Self will be constructed from a selected corpus of poems, written during a significant chronological period to know Natalia’s evolutionary path as a poet. Thus, a reflection will be developed around three lines of analysis: 1. the Self as a child, considering the childhood images that Natalia recreates; 2. the Self as a woman, a phase in which the body becomes the identifying element of the Self par excellence; and 3. the Self as a poet, the ever-present figuration, since Natalia and poetry become a single and complete being.
