Abstract

This recension examines the monograph resulting from Alice Giannini's doctoral research, published by Eleven as part of the Maastricht Law Series in 2023. The work reflects on the possibility of attributing criminal liability to artificial intelligence systems, conducting a doctrinal and comparative study of the most recent literature in English, German, and Italian. The review highlights the key points on which the author rejects this possibility, positioning herself as a moderate—acknowledging the possibility but not the necessity of such recognition. Additionally, some shortcomings identified in the research are noted.
