Abstract

The new information technologies have shown to be of great potential in providing rich, flexible and effective learning environments, due to the interactivity of online resources. This paper shows how the technological foundation of distance education has changed through its evolution, and recognizes that in spite of the considerable influence of technology, it will be the integration of both, technology and design of learning environment, which determines quality in distance education.
