SUICIDAL IDEATION IN BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER: Reflections on the therapeutic process.

This article presents a case with persistent suicidal ideation which was part of a limits-of-personality disorder. The therapeutic process followed was approached from a cognitive behavioral perspective. During the process it was necessary to keep and to rebuild the aims as well as to constantly adapt to the existential situation of the patient. According to the circumstances surrounding the case, the therapeutic alliance and the adhesion to the treatment were the aims that allowed going on with the therapeutic opened process. This made the psychological stabilization of the patient possible although his persistent and negative idea of ending with his own life.
