Influence of parenting styles in adolescents who have attempted suicide

The objective of this research was analyzing the differences between parental styles and suicide attempt on adolescents, and predictive level of parental practices on suicide behavior. 1000 high school students participated in the study, 485 males and 515 females, from 14 and 22 years old. In order to measure the parental practices has been used the parental style scale (Palacios y Andrade, 2006) and an instrument realized for evaluating suicide behavior. The results indicate different levels in parental style authoritarian and democratic. The suicide behavior was predicted by mother autonomy, mother imposition and father supervision showed was the predictors for suicide behavior in adolescents.
