Abstract

In this article two different approaches to borderline personality disorder are considered. The first comes from psychonalytical tradition (Otto Kernberg), the second one is inscribed in the cognitive-behavioural context (Marsha Linehan). The integration of booth is atteined by the author through theoretical explanations and clinical observations. The main concept to explain the characteristics of the borderline personality disorder is the disorganization of attachment in early chilhood, derived from Bowlby’s theory of attachment.
