Application of EMDR in the Treatment of Patients with Traumatic Symptoms: Replication with two Case Studies
Keywords:
PTSD, EMDR, memories, single-case designAbstract
In this paper we perform two single-case designs diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to study the effectiveness of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) auditory modality in the recovering of memories, by the differences in its number, and whether that condition is a reduction of traumatic and dissociative symptoms after application treatment. We used two time series designs A-B-A-A reversal. The investigation procedure was based on repeated measures analysis and exchange patterns (level, presence or absence of trend and type of trend). The visual and statistical analysis of the results shows that there was an increase in the recovery of traumatic memories, along with a reduction in dissociative and traumatic symptomatology.Downloads
