Objective: To examine the relationship between parental burnout, perfectionism, and self-compassion among parents in Metropolitan Lima, Perú. Method: A sample of 513 Peruvian parents (MAge = 38.65 years, SDAge = 8.49) participated. Using structural equation modeling, two models were tested, differentiating positive and negative dimensions of self-compassion. Results showed a significant direct relationship between perfectionism and burnout (β = .82; p < .001), and an inverse relationship between the positive dimension of self-compassion and parental burnout (β = -.06; p < .01). The second model showed similar results, with a direct relationship between parental perfectionism and parental burnout (β = .83; p < .001) and a direct relationship between the negative dimension of self-compassion and burnout (β = .07; p < .01). Conclusions: Parental perfectionism predicts parental burnout, while self-compassion plays a protective role, particularly its positive dimension. Interventions targeting perfectionism and fostering self-compassion may help mitigate parental burnout.
