Resilience and grief facing the loss of a loved one: A systematic review
Abstract: The objective of this systematic review was to find out whether there is a relationship between the experience of grief facing the loss of a loved one and the development of resilience. Our hypothesis was that resilience should increase after a process of mourning for the death of a loved one. To investigate this, a search of the main databases for the Health Sciences, PubMed, ERIC, EBSCOhost, and Web of Science was carried out yielding a total of 159 articles, of which 24 met the inclusion criteria. The analysis of these studies showed the importance of taking into consideration the particular characteristics of each case for proper intervention. To conclude, the role of resilience as a protective factor in grieving processes is highlighted and the way intervening in grief seems to promote resilience is reflected upon.
