Abstract

This article aims to address Silvia Mistral’s Film Criticism, field where she stood out writing many cinematographic columns and articles about the cinema world and its protagonists in magazines like Popular Film, Films Selectos, Proyector or Nuevo Cinema —where she also served as secretary—. This writer has already got the attention of the academic critics, who have mainly examined the works she wrote in her Mexican exile, but it is still necessary to deal with her role as a pioneer in the film criticism field. This paper is a first approach to it and contributes to value this author as a versatile, and politically, and socially committed writer.
