Author Guidelines

You must register and log in  to submit a paper and follow the status of your submission.

Submitted articles must be original and unpublished. The journal considers manuscripts in Spanish or any other language (preferably English).

Submitted articles must follow the guidelines specified in this section and also include the following files:

1. For submission and review:

  • A pdf file (the author must convert the “original” file into a pdf file). This file must not contain references to the identity of the author or authors within the text (the file will be sent to the external reviewers for a blind peer-review). This file INCLUDES images and tables, along with their accompanying captions. Note that this file must follow the instructions to ensure blind review by experts. The author will, however, provide his/her details (name, academic affiliation, e-mail and postal address) when registering on the website.

2. For possible publication:

  • A file (called “original” hereafter) containing the article edited with a word processor (preferably Ms Word or compatible) adhering to the guidelines below. The “original” file would not include images or tables.
  • Figures and Tables must be sent in a separate file indicating the number of the figure/table and their place within the text.
  • A separate caption file.
  • This files have to be uploaded in the fourth step of the sign up process.

THE “ORIGINAL” DOC FILE MUST FOLLOW THE GUIDLINES BELOW:

Title page: The title page will indicate the title of the paper in its original language and its translation into Spanish (in case the original language is English, otherwise the title should be translate into English). The author’s name, his academic affiliation and email address specified in a footnote. An abstract of the paper in both English and Spanish of no more than 1.000 characters (with spaces). The abstract should outline the article’s aims, method, results and conclusions. Keywords, in English and Spanish, must also be included to facilitate indexing the paper in scholarly databases. Keywords must be between four and eight. If the original text is not written in English or Spanish, the abstract and keywords must be presented in the text’s original language, along with the translation to Spanish and English. Images must be sent separately in a different file, together with a third file containing the titles of the images with their corresponding captions.

Text:

Manuscripts in Latin type must use Times New Roman or some other Unicode font. The text must be numbered and should not exceed 50.000 characters (with spaces), not including bibliography.

Headings preceding different sections of the article must be clearly distinguished. Quotations are enclosed in quotation marks; names and quotations in foreign languages are set in italics. Avoid using bold where possible.

A complete bibliographical list is to be included at the end of the text, in alphabetical order according to the footnotes guidelines below.

Illustrations: References to illustrations must be inserted in the place they will occupy within the text. A maximum of 15 figures can be included. Illustrations (prints, drawings or photographs) will be referred to as “Figures” (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2). Charts and tables will be referred to as “Table”.

The author is obliged to cite the source of all graphic material, regardless of the type of material. Where appropriate, authors must secure permissions for the reproduction of documents protected by copyright and forward copies thereof to the editors. The journal declines all liability for the infringement of intellectual or commercial property rights.

Style: Acronyms and abbreviations can be used provided they are widely accepted in the discipline. Do not use decimal points when referring to years (e.g. 1980), Latin terms and quotations are set in italics: et alii, in situ. If the author uses a type of script that is not based on the Latin alphabet, the typographic font must be included with the paper in the event it is required by the publisher.

PRINT PROOFS CORRECTIONS
Manuscripts should be submitted in pdf format (hereinafter: «file»), without any reference to authorship inside the text. Any reference that can suggest the authorship of the text, such as the name of the project or the institution funding the research, should be carefully deleted. Self-citation of published works should be masked as well, both in in-text citation and reference entries. To do so, the name of the author(s) should be replaced for «Author», and title and pages should be deleted, leaving only the year of publication. This is the file that will be submitted to the blind peer reviewers, and authors are responsible for strictly following the instructions for ensuring a blind review. Low-resolution figures and tables should be included inside the text, or at least clear indications of the placement of the figures in the text should be made. Notwithstanding, authors must attach separately high-quality figures and tables in Step 4. The file should be named after its title: TITLE_OF_THE_ARTICLE.pdf. Guidelines for copyediting the manuscripts can be found below. Please, read them carefully.
