This paper concerns the interim data on our research on the seguimiento of anorectic girls seen by Mara Palazzoli Selvini and her teams. The data not only bear out the usefulness of family therapy but also show how a family’s willingness to become involved in consultation is a highly favorable predictive factor. Finally, this research points in the direction of adopting a critical view to those models of family therapy that are brief, prescriptive and strategic, and favor models based on more long term taking in charge, integrating individual and family treatment.
