postmodernism, psychological researchAbstract
In his introduction as coordinator of this interesting recent compilation of thirteen "postmodern essays", Steinar Kvale draws attention to
breaking with the past as regards the object of psychology. Rather, there is a decentration of the self; a deviation from within the psyche towards the text of the
world, with special emphasis on practical and localized knowledge. he
conceptualizes postmodernism as the death of the subject and its consequent disappearance
of the autonomous and intentional agent as the foundation of psychology and education. Current psychological research does not serve contemporary psychotherapists and they are forced to build a second body of knowledge.
