We present in this work a general review of the combination of medication and psychotherapy, and it’s specific application to depression, we assume the recommendations of the most important international groups. We present a brief review of the psychotherapy as a treatment in the mental disorders and as trainable skill, making a more detailed analysis of the efficiency of the combined treatments with medication, searching in it the complementary, and leaving behind the attitudes based on confrontation, that it has resulted useless and sterile. We end with the conclusion that in some cases it’s proved the superiority of the combined treatments, but in other doesn’t seem to remain this clear. At least what we can say is that combination of medication and psychotherapy, a priori, it’s not negative.
