Psychological perspective of some pioneers: C. Rogers, E. Gendlin and R. Carkhuff

This article attemps to define the human and historical context that makes possible understanding the begining and evolution of the rogerian approach to psychotherapy in contrast to the more traditional approaches like Psychoanalysis and Behaviorism. Further contributions of E. Gendlin and R Carkhuff to this approach are also considered.
