Terapia cognitivo-conductual por videoconferencia para el trastorno de pánico en un médico afectado por Covid-19: Seguimiento de un año

En este trabajo se describe la aplicación y los resultados a un año de la terapia cognitivo-conductual (TCC) por videoconferencia (VC) para tratar el trastorno de pánico (TP) con agorafobia en una residente de urgencias médicas de primera línea afectada por Covid-19. La terapia se aplicó en 19 sesiones, que se adaptaron a las vicisitudes a las que se enfrentó la residente durante la pandemia. Los datos muestran que este tratamiento ayudó a reducir la frecuencia e intensidad de los síntomas de TP. Además, ayudó a disminuir o modificar los pensamientos catastróficos, las conductas de evitación y el uso innecesario de emergencias médicas. Los efectos descritos se mantuvieron durante las evaluaciones posteriores al tratamiento y los seguimientos a los tres, seis, nueve y doce meses. Se conluye que la TCC remota es una opción potencial para tratar el TP en trabajadores sanitarios de primera línea, aunque se necesita más investigación.
