Abstract

After a brief review of the landmarks that they have marked the evolution from the traditional dualist perspective even the current integratives ones, the theoretical and empiric foundations of these perspectives are exposed, so much for the ethiopathogenic understanding of the schizophrenia like for the strategies of treatment. The integration between the biological level / pharmocological treatments and the psicosocial / psychotherapy-rehabilitation, is emphatized, and they are revised the possibilities of integration of different models of psychotherapy. Finally, the importance is pointed out of attempting a real integration of treatments in the network of community mental health services, and the new open possibilities in order to make preventive interventions.
