Elizabeth M. Kissling, Department of Latin American and Iberian Studies. University of Richmond (USA)

Elizabeth Kissling is Assistant Professor of Spanish Applied Linguistics in the Department of Latin American and Iberian Studies at the University of Richmond. She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Georgetown University and an M.A. in Hispanic Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has taught Spanish language and linguistics courses for over 12 years in the United States and abroad. Her research interests span several areas of second language acquisition studies, including teaching methods, pronunciation, and study abroad. Among her latest publications are: “What predicts the effectiveness of FL pronunciation instruction?: Investigating the role of perception and other individual differences” (2014) in the Canadian Modern Language Review,Teaching pronunciation: Is explicit phonetics instruction beneficial for FL learners?” (2013) in The Modern Language Journal, andCross linguistic differences in the immediate serial recall of consonants versus vowels” (2011) in Applied Psycholinguistics.  She can be reached at ekisslin@richmond.edu; 82 Westhampton Way, Carole Weinstein International Center, University of Richmond, Virginia 23173; 804-484-1543 (telephone); and 804-484-1544 (fax).
