The teaching of descriptive statistics in university careers in the health area has an additional complexity to those inherent to the discipline: the negative predisposition towards mathematics. By means of the use of accessible didactic resources such as the comic, which appeals to playful learning, a material for the teaching of statistics for health careers is proposed. The BioMatec comic (Sánchez et al., 2022) for the teaching of biostatistics in the Nursing degree at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, Centro Universitario Valle de Chalco, presents a process of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the health context, where it starts with situations that the student has already done in their school life or their clinical fields in hospitals in the area, after a series of them, the formalization is introduced through mathematical language and formulas, which allows easy understanding in mathematical development. Additionally, three types of tests are performed to determine the type of learning style that the students have so that finally, some results of the application of BioMatec are shown with an experimental group of 35% of the population of the third level of the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, establishing a control group and an experimental group, finding that under the PBL model, there is a significant difference in learning using a comic as a didactic and creative strategy.
