Analysis of the conflict among sporting practise, scholarship context and friendship in young athletes: the importance of parents

The main aim of this study is to analyze the relationships among parents and athletes´ opinions on instrumentalization or conflict that perceived among sport, friendship and sport context where the young athlete is involved, as well as verify whether parents academic formation is a determinant in that perception. The sample was formed by 723 basketball, handball, football and volleyball male and female players, as well as their parents. We used an instrument to measure the relationships among the different social roles. Results showed a strong relationship between parents' opinion and their children, which suggest us the influence of the family context. It has been also demonstrated that the greater is parents academic formation, the higher is the perception of the conflicts between the sporting practise and other social roles of their children.Downloads
