Dating, marriage, family, close personal relationshipAbstract
Almost thirty years ago Ferrándiz and Verdú published a book on male-female relationships in dating and marriage that achieved a considerable success and gave rise to a lively debate. For the first time in Spain (at least to our knowledge), a psychosocial approach to marriage was used, facilitating a detailed and critical examination of the problems of distressed couples. In order to provide empirical support for its analysis, the work resorts very imaginatively to a combination of different methods (surveys, life stories, interviews, testimonies and institutional documents), is a snapshot of the relationships between men and women in the seventies and is still today an inspiration for students of interpersonal relationships.
