The elderly person and new technologies. Review of the hispanic digital press coverage during the Covid-19

The article analyzes informative coverage about the use of information and communication technologies by elderly public through the analysis of headlines pieces published in Hispanic digital press. In order to do this a daily monitoring of the news published in internet was carried out with the help of Google alert tool. From January to August in 2020, 695 Google alerts were re viewed. It’s quantitative and qualitative methodology explore and document in 87 informative pieces related to 72 digital communication media from different Spanish speaking countries. One of the results is the verification that the digital media do not diffuse news content about technology for elderly people. Only ten media communication barely registered 2 to 3 informative notes during this period, half of them from Argentina and Chile. Therefore, the topics about technology aren`t relevant to Hispanic digital press so, it makes invisible the importance of digital inclusion for the benefit of active aging for this population.
