Abstract

This article analyzes the discourse of the terrorist organization ISIS using the semiotic methodology. Specifically, it explores who are the potential receivers of its propaganda and why it has been so effective among sectors of the Western population. Likewise, the system of meaning on which the universe of sens of the Islamic State has been configured is analyzed. All this taking Dabiq as a reference, the first magazine that ISIS published after the self-proclamation of its own Caliphate and where the aims and foundations of this project are explained.
