Abstract

In Galician-Portuguese, the so-called conjugated infinitive constructions are well known, which actually affect 4 out of 6 persons, in which the infinitive takes a conjugation ending. On the other hand, American Spanish uses a preverbal subject with an infinitive, but the verb lacks endings, so instead of a conjugated infinitive we could speak of a personal infinitive. These constructions are known in the Spanish of Ecuador (ES_EC) and Colombia (ES_CO), but not in the rest, where the subject is postverbal. We will compare four types of infinitive constructions in: 1. Galician-Portuguese, 2. Ecuadorian-Colombian Spanish, and 3. rest of Spanish; we will do it by means of syntactic analyses.
