In 1611 Queen Margaret of Austria died. A year later, a book of poems was printed in her honour in A Coruña. The book included only two poems in Galician, a couple of Baroque sonnets that deal with the subject of death from different viewpoints. We refer to them as the «Galician Sonnet» by Pedro Vázquez de Neira and the «Sonnet with Skirt» by Juan Gómez Tonal, two texts with many cultured reminiscences, fully framed in the Baroque period.
