The purpose of this article is to develop an artificial intelligence model in order to read and transcribe italics handwriting produced in the Spanish XVIIIth century using Transkribus as platform. This research makes an historiographic journey of the efforts of other researchers to create handwritten text models (HTR) with the objective of determining the challenges and problems encountered, as well as the methodology and "good practices" to be used in order to obtain an accurate reading model. Finally, a methodological presentation of the development of the model is made and the conclusions obtained are presented.
