BIOGRAFÍA Y PROYECCIÓN AUTORIAL DE ÁNGELA MERCADER DE ZAPATA Y BOÏL DESDE EL SIGLO XVI

Abstract

This paper studies the project of constructing an authorial image of Ángela Mercader de Zapata y Boïl (ca. 1524-1567), a model of wise woman in the Iberian Renaissance Parnassus. In addition to shedding light on her biography, we will try to show how the recognition of a Latinist by intellectual figures of her time and her inclusion in the galleries of learned women and successive bibliographic catalogs of the Modern Age contributed to canonizing her as a woman of letters, in spite of not being able to attribute to her any work with sufficient certainty.
