Abstract

This article is focused to the study of the image of the combat soldier in the comic Hazañas Bélicas. The sources are a selection of about 75% of the stories published between 1950 and 1956, when Franco’s regime strengthen his relations with the United States. From this sources have been analysed two questions: firstly, the idealization of the American and German soldiers; secondly, the dehumanization of the Japanese and Communist ones. Among the main conclusions in this work, can be noted two. First, the distorted images of these combatants are confirmed, although it’s necessary to shade them, because of their complexity. Second, the idealizations of the first ones and the dehumanization of the last ones are consequences not only of the Francoist ideological context, but also of the American cultural influence in the context of the Cold War, which must to be study more deeply.
