Abstract

This article presents an analysis of evaluation systems and the contextual model in a corpus made up of a techno-scientific text by Ramón y Cajal. Our hypothesis is the existence of social values that monitor the use of linguistic evaluation systems in this technoscientific discourse. We have developed a mixed quantitative-qualitative methodology that tries to integrate Appraisal Theory and Critical Discourse Analysis. The data obtained have allowed us to accept this hypothesis, while the contextual model proposed and their social values are in turn hypothetical.
