Abstract

The content of the article turns around two main blocks: the first one is centred in the more relevant aspects by which the present UNED Government Team has decided to start the Plan for the Quality Enhancement of the UNED. The reasons, foundations, objectives, predicted means and first initiatives are faithfully described; the second one is directed to the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained in the enquiry conducted from three different groups of the University: Teacher Staff at the Central Headquarters, Tutors at the Associated Centres and Students. In these lines, the existing coincidences and discrepancies among them regarding enormously relevant subjects are shown. This information was helpful to determine the high-priority objectives of the Plan: a) production, update and systematic improvement of the specific for distance education learning materials (the high-priority objective is centred in printed materials, although the computer-based and audio-visual materials must not be forgotten); b) improvement of the tutoring at the Associated Centres.
