This article sets out how in a sexual relationship there can exist deep traumatic parameters that came up as contaminating elements of the will and the consent, and give rise to dissociation which, in turn, allows having sex not actually desired but apparently consented. This generates profound discomfort so damaging self-esteem and trust, as well as the relationship with the other and oneself. The text shows how in the deepest strata of our brain lie survival patterns once needed but witch, at present, require to be updated for better adaptation and recovery of health. Different examples attended to in psychotherapy illustrate how this process develops by awakening the subcortical world whose aim is to protect the integrity of the person. Finally, it is explained how returning to connection, leads to integration and metabolization of the experience restoring this way the emotional balance and the regulation of the nervous system.
