This article corresponds to a theoretical work that explores person-centered work with clients who present suicidal ideation. Initially, a general panorama on suicide is presented, then a comprehensive look at the phenomenon of suicidal ideation is presented from the person-centered approach, and, finally, some reflections on the psychotherapeutic process to work with people who present suicidal ideation. It is concluded this approach can contribute to the therapeutic work of suicidality, and, therefore, the need to carry out empirical studies on the subject, in a South American population.
