We approach the figure of Avel·lí Artís i Balaguer, in his period of Mexican exile and in a double perspective. In the first one, we establish
a canonical biography of the author, asking ourselves if with it a portrait of the exile can be configured as a literary matter, through the analysis of the
documentation generated by different agents of the Spanish republican exile, the correspondence and memorial works of the exiles, and finally, through the different studies on exile that have been published in recent decades.
