La gestione dell'architettura civile e militare a Palermo tra XVI e XVII secólo : gli ingegneri del regno

Abstract

La necessitá di ammodernare e potenziare le cinture di fortificazioni del centri piú importanti deila Sicilia costituisce nel Cinquecento una delle principan preoccupazioni del viceré; ne conseguirá un diretto coinvolgimento dell'autoritá monarchica e dei suoi tacnici nell'attivitá costruttiva e nella riconfigurazione degli insediamenti urbani, in particolare della capitale Palermo. Gli ingegneri regí coinvolti in tali vicende, talvolta, erano costretti a spostarsi frequentemente, per motivi professionali, all'interno deidominii spagnoli, determinando spesso solo brevi presenze in Sicilia; ma nel caso di permanenze piú durature i tecnia potevano accederé alia carica di «Ingegnere della Regia Corte», che obbligava pero alia residenza nell'lsola.
