(Tourist) Landscapes. (Authentic) Postcards. Diverse Uses

This study examines the development and historical antecedents of the concept of tourist landscape in literature and art. The descriptions by Juan Goytisolo and Juan Marsé allow us to discern the precursors of what would later become tourist landscapes. Furthermore, the use of postcards by Georges Perec as a narrative tool and as an evocative representation of a landscape, and by Jacques Derrida as an allegory of modern communication and knowledge, suggests that the concept of tourism is more pervasive than it might initially appear.
