Abstract

During the sixties and seventies, we fi nd a new type of poetry in the Basque poet Blas de Otero’s (1916-1979) oeuvre, after his well-known existentialist and social phases. This new expression deals with a new avant-garde form and content in order to reach a freer word. Although the author does not completely abandon his social ideas radically, he pursues a new metric that represents modern life in all its complexity, so the word will become something alive. In my opinion, the reason behind this change is that life was the most important literary concept in Blas de Otero’s poetic, and a notion to be defended
